How Is It Over Snow
The Viva 3 is an all-season tire, so it should do well in snow, and considering how bad it was on the wet, the snow performance was actually good enough.
This is thanks to the tread pattern and the sipes that are in a zig-zag layout. They enable the Viva 3 to have some biting force and find grip on snow. The braking distances are also decent enough to get a pass.
Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for packed snow and ice, as the Viva 3 feels almost as bad as on wet pavement.
Should I Buy The Goodyear Viva 3
Overall, I would say that you shouldnt, but let me break it down for you.
The Viva 3 is the cheapest tire from Goodyear aimed at people looking for an affordable option that isnt Chinese. While it does some things better than the other brands, I wouldnt put it miles ahead of them.
Maybe if the wet performance was a bit better, I might have suggested it as a better alternative to the cheap Chinese tires.
As things stand now, I cannot recommend these tires, especially when you consider that you can get better-performing models for a little extra.
Which One Is Worth The Money
The Douglas all season tire is extremely cheap its cheaper even when compared to other budget brands. They are one of the more affordable alternatives in the market today. They are priced similarly to other budget-friendly brands. Douglas tires are only affordable because they come with a 45k-mile treadwear limited warranty which is why it is said they are worth their price.
But when it comes to Viva 3 they are expensive while comparing it to Douglas otherwise comparing it to other tires Viva 3 is also affordable. As they are provided with good warranty so they too are worth their prices.

Goodyear Viva 3 Customer Reviews
Andrew says: Good value for price as compared to other brands. Quiet riding tires with good handling. I wanted a quiet, comfortable ride, I have taken a road trip totalling 700 miles since I purchased these tires. Very satisfied with the ride, sound level is great, and gas mileage improved a little. Wet and dry traction seems fine, they do not have an issue with the snow as traction was great for my trip to Illinois. I had the wheels aligned immediately after purchase, to ensure that the tires would not have any issues. Overall I say this is a great buy and will update after 6 months if I find anything that needs to be addressed.

Daryl says: I had Viva 2 on my 2008 Impala, so when I went to buy 4 tires, the Viva 3 replaced the Viva 2. Tires are excellent and handle very well. Car has a smooth ride to it with no road noise. Would recommend getting an alignment when buying new tires. I have them rotated and balanced every 6000 miles which is due very soon. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Detailed Comparison Between Goodyear Viva And Douglas All Season
Viva 3 has optimized zig-zag tread patterns to reduce road noise while providing a smooth comfortable ride. This type of tread pattern also helps to distribute the overall treadwear. It also uses stable shoulder blocks that provide confident handling in all-season conditions.
Here we can see that the tread pattern has 4 common grooves, . With these the ability of evacuating the water out in rainy conditions are helped.
Similarly, by considering the shoulders on the tire, which is mostly responsible for handling performance, we can see again see some deeper siping with zig-zag design. These sipes and biting edges help this tire alot not only in rain but in snowy conditions as well.
The Douglas performs well on dry and wet. While this tire does not substitute an actual winter tire, it will hold its own worth in slight winter conditions and light snow. The excellent traction is the result of the tires special tread design. The wide circumferential tread grooves also enhance its resistance to hydroplaning. They channel water from below its footprint and improve the safety of the tire in dangerous, deep water road conditions. The Douglas All-Season reduces the road noise the tires make while in transit. The tread pattern lowers the road noise heard in the cabin of the vehicle, making the tire less noisy during on-road driving and making the driving experience more comfortable and quieter.

Tread Pattern And Design
The tread pattern of a tire makes the tire more unique and different from other tires. The Goodyear viva 3 has not been changing its tread design because it is working significantly well and its a more durable design. The tire consists of circumferential and zig-zag grooves to handle water by providing hydroplaning resistance with quiet and comfortable handling.
Also, the enhanced tread pattern contact with the ground in a large and equal footprint to keep the tires treadwear durability sound. The tread pattern of the Goodyear Viva 3 has been appreciated by buyers, and it provides great traction and grip with smooth handling in all-season conditions.
Goodyear Viva 3 Overview
Goodyear is a well-known and reputable name in tire production and developing rubber-related chemicals in various applications. Goodyear was originally set-up in the US in 1898. Until now, its international subsidiaries are available in 62 countries. It provides a wide range of tires like commercial, light trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, racing cars, airplanes, farm-equipments, and so many more.
Goodyear Viva 3 is one of its passenger all-year tires, which has been available in the market since 2010. The market for this product is customers with a tight budget. Whether Goodyear Viva 3 stands out in the market of mid-range all-year tires or not? Lets continue going along with us in this post of Goodyear Viva 3 Review.
As its name suggests, Goodyear Viva 3 is the third generation of Goodyear Viva tires. It was updated with more superior features. The most remarkable feature we found in Viva 3 is wide circumferential grooves. Its four wide grooves provide better hydroplaning resistance and traction in all seasons.
The water and smud are channeled through the tire tread, which increases the drivers control in the wet condition. From almost Goodyear Viva 3 tire reviews, its performance over wet and slippery surfaces is quite acceptable. Its braking distance is still too long, though.
The zig-zag tread pattern was promising to improve road noise. Road noise reduction was much improved in Viva 3 in comparison with earlier models.

Is The Goodyear Viva 3 Ideal For Sporty Driving
I should keep this short and say no, but Ill explain.
Cheap tires are not ideal for sporty driving, and the Viva 3 are no exception, regardless of the brand. The dry performance is just okay for everyday commute to work at slower speeds and granny-like driving. Push them a bit, and theyll lose traction. Things are worse in the wet, meaning that even everyday driving can be a challenge.
As you can already guess, track days are out of the question. On the other hand, you wouldnt put these tires on a car that youd take to a track, so its not something youd think about.
Why You Should Not Buy Goodyear Viva 3
Even though the tire can tackle all-season conditions and also being cheap does not mean that you should always buy Goodyear viva 3 to deal with every situation. Like if you want to hit off-road, either if it is snow or mud, never consider buying this tire because it wont last 5000 miles in severe conditions due to its built. Also, if you are more toward racing tires with sharp cornering and grip on fast terrains, dont buy viva 3. There are many sports tires available in the market under this price range that will perform better and longer in this situation.
If you are so convinced with these tires, then buy only to drive in all-season like wet, dry, and highway conditions. Other than that, buy other tires related to the situation. Also, these are not the best touring tires in the market, they may lack comfortability and make noise compared to premium tires, but they will also charge you twice compared to Goodyear viva 3.

How Does It Behave Over Wet And Slippery Roads
I like Goodyear as a brand, so Im trying to say this as gently as possible the Viva 3 are terrible in wet conditions.
Goodyear put some effort into the tread design, but I think that wasnt enough as the performance not even slightly better than the cheapest tires. The Viva 3 feels like it doesnt have enough grip on wet surfaces, to a point where it slides more than youd want to.
Things get worse the faster you drive, as the stability is questionable. Dont even think about pushing these tires as the limit is very low. Sudden steering inputs or hard accelerations show how little grip the Viva 3 has.
While the braking distances on dry were okay-ish, on wet, they are among the worst Ive seen in a while.
Goodyear Viva 3 Pricing: Is It Worth The Money
You may be surprised, but I had difficulties with this section. On the one hand, the Viva 3 is a cheap tire from Goodyear thats slightly better than similarly priced tires. The prices start from around $54 for the 14-inch models and go up to $112 for the most expensive 18-inch models. Looking at this alone, the tires are a good investment.
On the other hand, for about $10-20 more, you can get all-season tires from mid-range brands that will perform better. If you go a bit up, you can even find some of the lower-tiered Goodyear models.
The Viva 3 on paper seems like its worth the money, but in reality, Im not so sure.

How Does It Behave On Dry Tarmac
To be honest, I cannot praise the Viva 3 too much, mainly because the performance is far from what youd get from any other Goodyear tire.
On the other hand, when you look at the price range, the Viva 3 is better than the Chinese tires. In straight-line speeds, its more stable and has a slightly shorter braking distance.
The biggest problem you may face is with the Viva 3 is the levels of grip. If you even push the tire slightly, it will lose traction. Go into a corner a bit more enthusiastically, and a terrible understeer will greet you.
I am aware that these kinds of budget tires are purchase by people that arent into too spirited driving. With that said, Im not a huge fan of cheap tires with lousy performance. The only thing pulling the Viva 3 from the ditch is that its a Goodyear tire and is a tad better than the Chinese competitors.

Is It Comfortable And Refined
Goodyear claims that the Viva 3 is an all-season tire designed for comfort and reduced noise levels. I wont say that Goodyear lies about that, but I will say that the tire is not the most comfortable or refined.
In general, tires with a higher profile should be a bit comfortable as the sidewall can flex slightly, but thats not the case with the Viva 3. The ride quality is on the firm side, meaning that bumpy roads or uneven surfaces wont be absorbed by the tire as much as youd want.
The noise levels are also nothing to write home about. At slower speeds on more smooth surfaces, things are not that bad. On the other hand, on rougher surfaces or higher speeds, the noise is quite noticeable.
